Puerto Plata International Airport (POP)
Also known as Gregorio Luperón Int'l Airport is the
closest airport to Playa Cofresi. It is about 15 miles or about 25 minutes from the
villa. Airport facilities include
duty-free shopping, foreign exchange centers and ATMs, restaurants and
bars, gift shops, first aid and a tourist help desk. There
is access for the disabled.

to make your entry and departure as pleasant as possible. There
will be no worries about finding your way or getting lost.
Taxi rates are generally fixed throughout the Dominican Republic
and his fees are in line with the going rates.
The benefit of our service is that Julio will be waiting to greet
you directly outside the airport doors, and will know exactly
where to take you. For larger groups, Julio will arrange for
an extra van and driver

Please do your own car rental research. And be sure you fully understand your liability, especially in case of an accident. Although car rentals are readily available, it is not generally recommended to rent a car. There are no "rules of the road" in the DR, and driving can be hazardous. Insurance is also non-existent. If you decide to rent a car, be careful!
TRAVELING AROUnD THE PUERTO PLATA AREA
Taxis are readily available at the taxi stand located on Cofresi Street near the entrance to the Hacienda Resort, about a 5 minute walk from the villa. The rate chart is posted, and a printed copy is available at the villa along with helpful suggestions regarding taxi service. Call for service, or walk over to the stand.
